PRONTO PROJECT: PREDICTING POTATO SPROUTING TO OPTIMIZE TUBER STORAGE

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: Potatoes degrade during storage, with sprouting diminishing their quality and value. Regulatory changes in Europe have increased costs for Anti-sprouting compounds (ASCs). With no reliable technologies for predicting sprouting in advance, how do we minimize excessive and unnecessary application of ASCs?

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: An AI-based system that uses electrophysiological measurements to record directly from stored potatoes, and which send alerts that potato sprouting is imminent, enables timely treatment or processing decisions.
